Stage 6

"Views of the Salzachtal"

Leaving from the railway station car park, this stage first takes us back over the Salzach bridge, then continues up the main road, passing below the junction of the B167 and B311 highways, shortly afterwards making a left and taking us uphill to the Höhenwart.

From there, we take a relatively steep forestry path with beautiful views of the Salzach Valley, until we get to the summit station of the tow lift. The stage continues along the same forestry path through the forest until we get to the Kögerlalm. Refreshments are available here, plus there are gorgeous views of the Hochkönig.

Now we make our way through a sparse larch forest, ascending only slightly as we push on to the Drei Waller chapel. The Almenweg can be shortened by descending to Unterberg and continuing to Dorfgastein (bus route) or by walking via the Amoser Hochalm and Niederalm all the way down to Dorfgastein.
