The Salzburger Almenweg Regions
There’s no better way to explore the Salzburger Sportwelt region than with hiking boots on your feet.
And hiking continues to be one of the most popular outdoor pastimes there is. For good reason.
“Conquering” nature one step at a time doesn’t just keep you physically fit, it is also treats you to an amazing feast for the eyes. The Salzburger Sportwelt, with its eight holiday communities (Flachau, Wagrain-Kleinarl, St. Johann-Alpendorf, Radstadt, Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Eben, Filzmoos), is a true treasure trove for alpinists of every kind.
With the Radstädter Tauern, the Tennengebirge and the Dachstein essentially right at our doorstep, the Salzburger Sportwelt promises its hiking-hungry guests some truly magical peaks. Families with children are able to choose easy tours, leading them gently uphill through lush green meadows, or through fragrant forests. One of these hikes, from Flachau to Altenmarkt along the Enns Promenade, takes around 2.5 hours. Adventure-hungry summiteers, on the other hand, are offered multi-day trekking tours.
In addition, the Salzburger Sportwelt’s alpine schools also offer guided tours to destinations determined by participants themselves. That said, a very detailed hiking map of this region of fascinating landscapes is sure to keep every individualist “on the straight and narrow”!
