Bad Hofgastein is a market town and the historical fulcrum of Gastein, located in the sunniest and widest part of the valley. The town center is surrounded by an attractive pedestrian zone, beautiful shops, hotels and restaurants, as well as the big Kurpark. Mountains and spas produce an ambience that is one-of-a-kind. Also awaiting you is a variety-filled sports & fitness program, including half- and full-day tours and hikes up to mountain cheese dairies. Experience three enchanting stages of the Salzburger Almenweg, from the Biberalm via the Schlossalm - Gadaunerer Hochalmen – Miesbichlscharte to the Bockhartsee.
At the foot of Hohe Tauern National Park, Gastein’s imposing mountain world towers skywards. Colorful alpine flowers fringe the over 350 km of marked hiking paths. The degree of difficulty ranges from family-friendly and easy, to high-alpine. New signs have been installed all along the trail. 55 – occasionally very rustic – mountain huts offer foods traditionally cooked in the region.
