Salzburger Almenweg - The hiking stages

Stage 2: Arthurhaus – Dientner Sattel
"Majestically Scenic Experience"
Starting Point: Arthurhaus car park
Finish Point: Dientner Sattel
Lowest Point / Highest Point: 1342 m / 1580m
Total Elevation Change (in meters): 500 m
Length of Stage: ca. 11.5 km
Stage Characteristics: Wonderfully scenic route without any significant climbs
Time on Trail: ca. 3.5 Stunden

The Salzburger Almenweg runs just above the car park. It continues at essentially the same elevation in a westerly direction along the southern flank of the Hochkönig. After about a 15-minute walk, a number of natural springs give you a chance to top up your canteens. This entire stage is accompanied by glorious panoramas, above all out towards the main Alpine range and the southern walls of the Hochkönig. Along the way, numerous mountain inns offer inviting opportunities to stop, relax and enjoy refreshments. We’ll first come to the Windraucheggalm and shortly thereafter the Riedingalm, which we’ll reach by taking a short downhill walk. Just as before, the Almenweg continues to be flat, leading through the picturesque Rieding Valley and crossing the dry bed of the Schrammbach. There now follows a brief ascent before we reach the next inns, including the Schartenhütte, the Molterauhütte and the Brandstatthütte. After this, we now cover a lengthier distance without refreshment opportunities, unless we decide to take a break by hiking down to the Stegmoosalm.
After around 3.5 hours, the Erichhütte once again gives us an opportunity to kick back and relax for a while. Because it is close to the car park, this inn is easy to reach from the main highway and, as a result, a popular stop-off. On a broad forestry road, we now continue down to the car park at the Dientner Sattel, where a bus stop is also located.
VARIANT: Erichhütte - Übergossene Alm - Bürglalm - Sunnhüttl
Time on Trail: ca. 3 3/4 hours.
From the Erichhütte (path Nos. 436/401A) downhill to the trail fork, then along paths 66, 65, 65c to the Schneggbauer. We follow the main road downhill for ca. 300 m, until we come to a turn-off to the right, taking us on a gentle uphill walk to Liebenaualm-Bürglalm-Sunnhüttl (paths 64, 64a and 63). From the Sunnhüttl we continue along path No. 76 until, after the Klausalm cross, we come back to the actual Almenweg route once more.

Sehr einfache, wunderschöne Etappe mit vielen Einkehrmöglichkeiten. An schönen Tagen ist hier richtig viel los.

Unsere 1.
