From the lift summit terminal (ride up on the Schlossalmbahn lift), the trail leads via the pasturelands of the Schloss-Hochalm over to the Ochsenriedel (summit terminal for the Kaserebenbahn - this lift does not run in summer). Now via the H. Kreilinger-Steig, making a short, steep descent until just above the tree line, then continuing along an almost flat trail to the Rockfeldalm, where refreshments are served. After a short descent the trail makes its way over a feeder stream for the Lafenbach and then uphill once again to the especially enchanting landscapes of the Gadaunerer Hochalmen, located at an elevation of 1800 m above sea level and offering numerous opportunities for refreshment breaks. Hikers can descend either via a broad forest path to the Upper Angertal, or via the forest trail towards Lafenbach, taking either a left to the Nesslach and on to the Lackenbauer, or keeping straight and making a steep, romantic descent to a forest inn (the Hirschenhütte) and the Angertal.
