Salzburger Almenweg - The hiking stages

Via Dorfgastein or Unterberg, marked hiking paths lead us up to the Heinreichalm.
Taking the supply road to Unterberg, we make our way up to a hut, to the right of which runs a footpath which will take us to the highest point of this stage, a saddle below the Tagkopf. The trail now crosses extensive grazing land, through the "Saugruam" and down to the Präau Hochalm. It then continues along an unpaved road, which meets the forestry road next to a hunting lodge. This now goes to the right, at first slightly uphill, then, after crossing the Präaubach (you’ll need waterproof shoes), gently dropping until just above the Wölflalm.
From there we continue down a bumpy pathway to the Wölflam. The trail now takes us past 3 hill farms, through the enchanting landscapes of the Längstal and then, at the valley head, up to the Wetterkreuz. From the Wölflalm the marked trail runs through pasture lands to the Gröbneralm. Crossing the Luggauer Bach we come to a supply road, which makes its way via the Walchalm at the valley head, through a series of switchbacks to a hut, ending around 40 vertical meters below the latter. We will now follow the path up to the Hohe Scharte and the Wetterkreuz. Once we’ve made it, we can enjoy the impressive views out over the Gastein Valley. From here we make our descent to the newly constructed Biberalm.
