The SalzburgerLand is home to more alpine huts than any other Austrian province, boasting over 1800 in total. Around 550 of these huts open their doors to hikers, treating their guests to an array of hearty hill-country favorites. Hiking along the new Salzburger Almenweg across colorful alpine meadows and through forests, past romantic mountain tarns and waterfalls, pausing at chapels and trail-side crosses, is what makes summer in the Salzburg hill country such a unique experience.
